Integrity oversight bodies – administrative law in action, an online seminar with Steven Brnovic

Integrity oversight bodies – administrative law in action

Presenter: Steven Brnovic – Foley’s List Barrister
Chair: Perry Q Wood, Managing Partner, Australian Migration Lawyers

Integrity bodies play a crucial role in ensuring the executive branch acts within its powers. Integrity oversight
bodies (such as the NACC Inspector, ICAC Inspector and Integrity Oversight Victoria) play a similar role to the
integrity agencies themselves. Having recently completed an appointment as Special Counsel to Integrity
Oversight Victoria, Steven will describe how integrity oversight bodies ‘guard the guards’. \.

Steven Brnovic has been recognised by Doyle’s Guide as one of Australia’s Leading Public and Administrative
Law Junior Barristers, in 2021, 2022 and 2023. In 2025, Steven was appointed as General Counsel to Integrity
Oversight Victoria, reflecting his expertise in integrity and anti-corruption legislation. In 2022, he was appointed a
Commissioner of the newly-established Victorian Liquor Commission, where he sits as a Tribunal member and
on inquiries related to liquor-industry regulation. In 2023, he was appointed by the Attorney-General as an
Independent Reviewer under the Legal Aid Act 1978.
