2024 AIAL Essay Competition winner

The 2024 AIAL Essay Prize winner is Dominic Wilcox for his essay entitled  ‘Structured proportionality and unreasonableness review: From judicial overreach to a doctrine of deference’.  This will be  published shortly in the AIAL Forum. Dominic  is a barrister who practises in NSW,  and holds a Master of Laws (Public Law) from the Australian National University. Congratulations Dominic on an excellent essay.

Thanks to the many who submitted essays to this competition. The essays were of a very high standard and demonstrated the diversity of issues in current administrative law.

The process for selecting the winner was undertaken by AIAL National Executive members Associate Professor Janina Boughey of UNSW, Emeritus Professor Robin Creyke of ANU, and Tara McNeilly of AGS and secretary of AIAL, together with Mark Robinson SC of the NSW Bar.
