2021 National Administrative Law Conference – Administrative law on the edge
Due to travel restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 National Administrative Law Conference was held from Thursday 22 July 2021 online.
The Plenary Sessions from Day 1 of the conference program were presented as webinars on 22 & 23 July. The themed concurrent sessions of the program originally planned for Friday 23 July were held as webinars over the following weeks.
The 2021 online Conference was hosted by the Victorian Chapter of the Institute with support form the National Executive and the National Secretariat. The program details are here:

2019 National Administrative Law Conference: People, Parliament and the public interest
The 2019 AIAL National Administrative Law Conference was held on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 July 2019 in Canberra at the Hotel Realm, 18 National Circuit,Barton, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
Speakers included Dr James Renwick SC, Justice Nicola Pain, Dr Sarah Moulds, Dr David Solomon, Linda Pearson and Jaala Hinchcliffe. The Conference included the National Administrative Law Lecture by Justice David Thomas, President of the AAT.Many of the presentations at the Conference have now been published in AIAL Forum.

The 2018 National Administrative Law Conference was held on Thursday 27 September at 10.30am to Friday 28 September at 2.00pm at the UNSW Law School, University of New South Wales, Kensington, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

2017 National Administrative Law Conference: Ripples of affection – Administrative law and communities’
The 2017 AIAL National Administrative Law Conference was held on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 July 2017 in Canberra at the Hotel Realm, 18 National Circuit,Barton, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
Speakers included Justice John Griffiths of the Federal Court of Australia, Rosalind Croucher, President of the Australian Law Reform Commission, Peter Hanks QC, Professor Matthew Groves of La Trobe University, Justice Janine Pritchard of the WA Supreme Court, Professor Megan Davis of the University of NSW, David Vaile of the Cyberspace Law and Policy Community at UNSW, and Katie Miller of the Victoria Legal Aid. Many of the presentations at the Conference have now been published in AIAL Forum.

2010 National Conference: Delivering administrative justice
The 2010 National Administrative Law Forum, “Delivering Administrative Justice” was held on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 July 2010, University of Sydney, Sydney, NSW.
The opening address was given by Chief Justice Robert French, High Court of Australia. The dinner speaker was Sir Anthony Mason.

2009 National Conference: Administrative law reform
The 2009 National Administrative Law Forum was held on 6-7 August 2009 at the Hotel Realm in Canberra. The opening address was delivered by Joe Ludwig as Commonwealth Special Minister for State on reform of the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
2008 National Conference: Practising administrative law
The 2008 National Administrative Law Forum was held at the Sofitel Hotel in Melbourne on 7-8 August 2008. The Victorian Attorney-General Rob Hulls opened the conference, the President of the Victorian Court of Appeal Justice Chris Maxwell presented the first plenary session and the Commonwealth Attorney-General Robert McClelland gave the keynote address.
2007 National Conference: The impact of administrative law
The 2007 National Administrative Law Conference was held on 14-15 June 2007 at the Australian Institute of Sport, Canberra. The keynote address was by the Commonwealth Attorney-General, who acknowledged the Institute’s ‘continued contribution to the development of an area of law so important to maintaining and improving Australia’s democracy’.

The 2006 National Administrative Law Conference was held at Surfers Paradise on 22-23 June 2006. It was co-hosted by the Northern Territory chapter and the Queensland chapter of AIAL.

The 2004 National Administrative Law Conference was held on 1-2 July 2004 at the Wrest Point Hotel in Hobart, Tasmania. The opening address was by the Tasmanian Attorney-General, Judy Jackson.

The 2002 National Administrative Law Conference was held in Fremantle on 3-4 July 2002. The opening address was given by Jim McGinty, Attorney-General of WA and the closing remarks were by Justice Robert Nicholson of the Federal Court, a former chair of the WA chapter. The proceedings were edited by Justice Michael Barker, who was Chair of the WA chapter (AIAL, 2004).
2001 National Conference: Administrative law: The essentials
The 2001 Conference was held in Canberra on 5-6 July 2001. The opening address was by Dr Peter Patmore, Attorney-General of Tasmania. The publication of the proceedings was edited by Robin Creyke and John McMillan (AIAL, 2002).
